Will My Car Pass Safety Inspection?

/ 58

slider3

Your car is important and you take it everywhere whether it is work or vacation. So taking care of your mode of transport is imperative so you don’t end up at an inspection station. As we gear up for the winters, taking care of your machine is essential to avoid any mishap.

There are a few components the inspector examines to give your car a thorough check for all the key safety features. To save yourself some time and not face any trouble with your car (or the law), here are a few things you check for yourself for a car safety inspection in Brampton:

  • Leaky Exhaust– Exhaust system is part of your car’s power train, which means it transmits power from the engine to the axles of the vehicle. Any leak your exhaust mean dangerous carbon monoxide fumes, which is poisonous if inhaled. This gas can filter through the exhaust into your car. It is imperative that you check for any cracks or leaks and repair the same immediately.
  • Worn out brakes– If you’re an aggressive driver or you have to do some emergency stops. If you haven’t checked your brakes for a long time. Whatever the reason may be, brakes wear out over time and it needs to be replaced. This is even more important if you’re buying a used car. According to the safety inspection, replace the brake-shoe lining if it is 1.6 mm or lower.
  • Bald Tires– When the tire has no tread depth, you are unable to grip the road. This can be dangerous for you and for other people on the road. With the weather change, it is important to double check the tread for a safe drive.

If your tire has a tread depth of 2mm or less it needs to be changed.

  • Instruments aren’t in shape– Speedometer and Odometer are instruments or tools on your dashboard. These are essential to drive safely and avoid tickets. Sometimes the car’s instruments lose calibration and so it is important to get it checked.
  • Steering isn’t in control– Steering mechanism plays an important role. One loose piece can increase the risk of steering problems. The power steering must be checked for leaks and if you hear any “clunk” when you’re steering, it’s time to go to your mechanic.

However, surface rust, cracks in your windshield, minor leaks and soot around the exhaust joints are a few things you don’t have to repair right away. Conducting a professional inspection will leave no stone unturned and save you time too. Harrad Auto Services help you with car safety inspection and gives an honest estimate of your car’s condition.
