The Supreme Court dismissed vehicle associations, including the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA). The dealership allegedly violated the exemption orders for the sale and registration of BS-IV vehicles.
A bench of justices S Abdul Nasir and Justice Indira Banerjee chaired by Justice Arun Mishra is considering exemption in the sale and registration of vehicles.
The bench said it had violated a dealer’s previous directive to exempt the sale and registration of BS-IV vehicles. The Supreme Court believes that it has the authority to sell and register 1.05 lakh BS-IV vehicles, but since then, 2.55 lakh vehicles have been sold.
The Supreme Court has sought information on the sale and registration of Fata vehicles as of Friday.
Following a court order on March 27, the High Court asked the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to submit details of the BS-IV vehicles sold and registered.
