A bench of justices S Abdul Nasir and Justice Indira Banerjee chaired by Justice Arun Mishra is considering exemption in the sale and registration of vehicles.

The bench said it had violated a dealer’s previous directive to exempt the sale and registration of BS-IV vehicles. The Supreme Court believes that it has the authority to sell and register 1.05 lakh BS-IV vehicles, but since then, 2.55 lakh vehicles have been sold.

The Supreme Court has sought information on the sale and registration of Fata vehicles as of Friday.

Following a court order on March 27, the High Court asked the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to submit details of the BS-IV vehicles sold and registered.

India has decided to change the world’s cleanest emission standards from April 1. It went straight from Euro-IV to Euro-6th emission levels.

On March 27, following the first phase of a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of coronavirus, the Supreme Court relieved the auto industry and allowed BS-IV compliant vehicles to be sold for 10 days. (Hyderabad).
